Job SummaryThe Wholesale Junior Underwriter is an intermediate level position within the company. The Junior Underwriter is responsible for reviewing files for adherence to MiMutual standards and ensuring completeness of submission. The Junior Underwriter will process requested loan changes and re-issue the corresponding supplemental Loan Estimates. The Junior Underwriter will also work with the Underwriter, Broker and Broker's Processor(s)/Loan Officer(s) to collect all necessary documentation and act as the point of contact between inside sales staff and Account Executives, Underwriters, and customers to effectively close mortgages in accordance with MiMutual policies and procedures.Summary of Role and ResponsibilitiesManage a pipeline report of loans to consistently meet internal and external service level agreements.Maintain a consistent process for following-up on loans that require further review, corrected documents, and loan change request(s)/change of circumstance(s).Work closely with internal departments (e.g., Operations, Compliance, Secondary, and Sales) as it relates to providing a world class customer experience.Communicates (e.g., via email and telephone) with Brokers to relay loan status, answer questions, and clear conditions within the Junior Underwriter's authority.Communicates with Brokers, Underwriter's, sales staff, and settlement agents, as needed, to resolve discrepancies by explaining what information/documentation is required to resolve the issue.Reviews submitted documents for accuracy and completeness as it relates to MiMutual file requirements and standards.Organizes received file documentation in MiMutual's proprietary image system, validating what has been provided and indexing items into the appropriate folders.Ensures a minimum level of documentation (e.g., credit worthiness, analyzing income and asset data) is submitted prior to delivering a loan file to Underwriting for review by utilizing a checklist and ensuring all proprietary systems are updated accordingly.Responsible for analyzing and conditioning for appropriate file disclosures and compliance.Tracks pipeline to ensure adherence to compliance regulations.Maintains and develops expertise with all MiMutual policies and procedures relating to the Junior Underwriter's responsibilities.Special projects, as assigned.Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesThree plus years previous experience in a similar rolePrevious experience managing an individual pipeline within credit operationsIntermediate knowledge of compliance regulations and underwriting guidelines.Ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers and team mates.Ability to positively impact MiMutual and its Operations Department.Advanced customer service skills.Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Desktop Underwriting, Loan Prospector,Work EnvironmentWork is performed within a remote home office environment, with standard office equipment available.
