Description Position Summary The Van Lead is responsible for managing the employees that transport the vehicles from one location to the other in the van that they are assigned to. Primary goals are to ensure that the requirements of our customer requirements are met. The Van Leads report to the Yard Manager and / or Group Leader and has direct responsibility to ensure that all rules are complied with. Position Responsibilities: Know the inspection process and train team on standardized inspections process. i.e. (FVS-00-22_.Standard Inspection Process) Know how to use equipment (scanners/computer/etc.) Fill out necessary paperwork on a daily basis Understand the Rules of the Road and conduct safety meetings daily Manage a staff of Driver/ Porters Coordinate breaks to ensure high productivity Follow Management direction on the best route for moving vehicles in a safe manner. Qualifications Essential Skills and Experience: Education High school diploma or GED. Training Computer training helpful, but not necessary. Skills Verbal and written communications skills. Intermediate computer skills. Have a valid Operators Permit Experience Experience in vehicle movement field. Experience with leadership. Nonessential Skills and Experience: Ability to lead and motivate others Engenders trust Physical demands and work environment: The physical and mental demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. On the job the employee must: Have natural or corrected eyesight capable of conducting inspections in varying levels of light. Have normal range of hearing, or corrected hearing, to be able to respond to normal workplace sounds including approaching vehicles. Be able to conduct the following activities for the duration listed at minimum: Activity Duration Never=0 hrs. Occasionally = up to 3 hrs. Frequently = 3-6 hrs. Constantly = 6-8 hrs. Stand Constantly Walk Constantly Sit Frequently Push/Pull Occasionally Twist (waist) Frequently Twist (neck) Frequently Crawl Occasionally Climb (work at heights) Occasionally Kneel Occasionally Bend Occasionally Squat Occasionally Repetitive Motion Constantly Reach above shoulder level Occasionally Reach below shoulder level Occasionally Keyboarding/ Mouse (scanners) Occasionally Fine manipulation- finger movement Occasionally Simple grasping Occasionally Must carry/lift loads of: Lift Carry Light (up to 25lbs.) Occasionally Occasionally Moderate (25 - 50lbs.) Never Never Heavy (over 50lbs.) Never Never Mental On the job the employee must be able to perform these functions on a daily basis: Read and comprehend written word Write Perform calculations Communicate orally Reason and analyze Comprehend directions/instructions ENVIRONMENTAL On the job the employee: May be exposed to excessive noise depending on job location and operations in progress May be around moving machinery and equipment on a daily basis Depending on work location, may be exposed to marked changes in temperature and/or humidity May be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, radiation, chemicals depending on the work location Required to drive motorized equipment Potentially walks on uneven ground General sign-off: The employee is expected to adhere to all company policies and to act as a role model in the adherence to policies.
