PG&E IT is a unified organization composed of various
departments which collaborate effectively to plan, deliver, and
operate high quality technology solutions. The Geographic
Information System Center of Excellence (GIS CoE) has the
responsibility for maintaining and operating IT GIS applications
that support Gas, Electric, Power Generation, IT Fiber, and other
functional areas while also delivering IT projects and solutions in
support of company business goals and priorities. Position Summary
As the Director of GIS Program Delivery, you will focus your
efforts on directing PG&E’s journey to modernize our GIS
ecosystem under our multiyear Elevate Program. The tagline of the
Elevate program is: enabling geospatial intelligence to power our
future. And, as the Director of the program you will help lead
internal IT and external program resources, collaborate with
cross-functional stakeholders and application owners to drive the
implementation of a modern and scalable enterprise-wide GIS. The
successful candidate will help: Plan for and structure the program
delivery of Elevate for success with quality, scope, schedule, and
budget being paramount; Oversee all technical workstreams for
Elevate (Esri configuration/development, infrastructure,
cybersecurity, architecture, data); Lead the technical delivery of
design and several releases that will span from 2025 to 2029;
Implement a spatial-data ecosystem that ensures consistency,
reliability, compliance, customer satisfaction, and unlocks real
value; Ensure that there is alignment of the technical solution to
business objectives and changes. The ideal candidate should have a
long history of helping deliver GIS projects and programs and
experience with Esri’s Utility Network (UN) Model. This position
will be based at PG&E headquarters in Oakland, California.
Reporting This position reports to the Sr. Director, GIS Center of
Excellence; and will build and lead a team of project managers to
execute the work. Job Responsibilities Project Management
Excellence : Lead multifaceted, cross-functional teams throughout
an entire implementation lifecycle. Establish rigorous project
delivery standards and oversee financials, resource allocations,
vendor selections, and contract negotiations. Successfully execute
project management methodologies that encompass planning, design,
configuration, testing, training, and post go-live support. Ensure
smooth transition of deliverables to 24/7/365 operational support.
Verbal and Written Communication Skills : Effective in explaining
complex technology solutions in clear and concise terms,
establishing strong rapport in all directions, and persuading
others. Program Risk : Proactive identification of potential
implementation risks, driving the formulation and application of
robust mitigation strategies, minimizing disruptions and delays,
and safeguarding program timelines and objectives. Business
Partnership : Serve as a trusted advisor to business process
owners/leaders to support their mission. Understand the value
drivers of the business and ensure technology solutions are
scalable, reliable, and can expand to new operating models and
processes. Vendor Partnership : Manage large System Integrator (SI)
external vendor(s) as an extension of the IT team to ensure
successful implementation and integration with existing systems.
Support several complex contract negotiations and value-driven
procurement practices. Experience with establishing vendor
management guidelines and executing robust processes to support
them. Financial and Resource Management : Ability to manage large
program budgets (over $100M) and hundreds of resources while
ensuring on-time delivery of milestones and maintaining high
quality. Mentor and coach high-performing teams by promoting
collaboration, professional growth, and a results-driven culture.
Lead a diverse team of GIS analysts, developers, engineers, people
leaders, and project managers. Provide continual guidance,
feedback, and performance evaluations to team members. Technical

Compensation PG&E is providing the salary range that the
company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at
the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to
the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual
will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to,
specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,
market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we
estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be
placed towards the middle or entry point of the range (mid-range
$250K), the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related
to these factors. The base compensation range for this role is
$186K to $300K. This leadership role is also eligible for an annual
Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP), as well as the Long Term
Incentive Plan (LTIP). Background Qualifications Minimum Bachelor’s
degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related
field Minimum of 10 or more years of experience in progressively
responsible information technology and leadership positions in
relevant area of support including at least 2 years in leadership
role 7 years of experience in Technology/GIS leadership roles,
preferably in utility, energy, or infrastructure sectors PMP or
comparable project management certification Experience with 5 large
scale/full-cycle technology implementations for a utility
pertaining to critical asset and particularly spatial data Fluency
with GIS product architecture of Esri and other utility GIS
applications/platforms Implementation of cloud-based GIS
architectures and integrations Track record of managing
multidisciplinary teams and complex technical programs Willingness
to fully relocate to San Francisco Bay area and commute into
Oakland, California office at least 3 days a week Desired Master’s
degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related
field Knowledge of utility operations and asset management
principles Experience in regulatory environments (e.g., CPUC, FERC,
NERC) Proven experience with ArcGIS Utility Network, including
deployment, modeling, and integration best practices Familiarity
with relevant spatial software stack (Esri suite and data models,
Schneider, Safe Software FME, Integrations with SAP, ADMS, etc.)
Certification in GIS and/or Esri ArcGIS technologies
