Save Skills - 401(k) - Driver's License Benefits - Flexible Spending Account - Dental Insurance - Health Insurance - Paid Time Off - Vision Insurance This position serves as a Veterans' Career Advisor (VCA) Specialist in connection with the Michigan Works Agency System responsible for providing intensive employment services within a case management framework to a targeted veteran population who are unlikely to obtain employment without receiving such services. Utilizing a team-based approach, the VCA is responsible for providing intensive services to include coordinating itional services in order to get a qualified veteran 'job ready,' thereby increasing the employability of a veteran after receipt of such services. At the 9 and 10 levels the employee performs, in an independent location under supervision of the Employment Services Manager 14, a wide range of employment service assignments in a developing capacity. Must be a qualified service-connected disabled veteran or a qualified eligible veteran in accordance with priorities set forth in Title 38, Chapter 41 of the United States Code as amended by Public Law 107-288. Position Description 9-E10 Position Description 11 Required Education and Experience Education Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits). Experience Must be a qualified service-connected disabled veteran or a qualified eligible veteran in accordance with priorities set forth in Title 38, Chapter 41 of the United States Code as amended by Public Law 107-288. Employment Service Interviewer 9 No specific type or amount is required. Employment Service Interviewer E10 One year of experience equivalent to an Employment Service Interviewer 9. Employment Service Interviewer 11 Two years of experience equivalent to an Employment Service Interviewer, including one year equivalent to the Employment Service Interviewer E10. Alternate Education and Experience Four years of office support experience with public contacts, in a business or industrial setting, including two years equivalent to the experienced (E7) level, may be substituted for the education requirement. itional Requirements and Information Salary for this position is entirely federally funded. Under federal law an employee whose salary is entirely federally funded may not be a candidate for public office in a partisan election. Must have a valid driver's license. Job requires considerable travel by automobile. Employees also receive 13 sick days per year, and employees receive 8 hours of leave to participate in certain school functions or community activities. Employees may also qualify for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for certain family or medical situations. Holidays State employees receive 12 scheduled holidays each year, which include New Years Eve Day and New Years Day, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day just to name a few. Alternative Work Schedules Flexible work schedules and telecommuting options are available in many jobs. Insurance and Other Benefits Insurances include health, vision, dental and life. Employees also have the option to purchase itional life, accidental death, long term disability, long term care insurance, and legal services. Flexible spending accounts for medical expenses and child care are also available. Deferred Compensation Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount you want deducted from your paycheck. Retirement Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match that percentage (up to 3%). ORS administers two different retirement plans for State of Michigan employees: a Defined Benefit (DB) plan and a Defined Contribution (DC) plan.
