Job Description:
About the Role The Ultrasonographer is responsible for using
diagnostic medical equipment to diagnose various medical
conditions. Sonography , or ultrasonography, is the use of sound
waves to generate an image for assessment and diagnosis. The
Ultrasonographer may specialize in obstetric/gynecol ogic,
abdominal, neurosonography or breast sonography . What You’ll Be
Doing Reviews patient’s medical history and physician’s
instructions. Prepares equipment for procedure. Selects appropriate
equipment settings. Explains procedure to patient and records any
medical history that may be relevant to the condition being viewed.
Directs the patient to move into positions that will provide the
best view. Spreads gel on the skin to aid in the transmission of
sound waves . Operate s special equipment to direct nonionizing,
high-frequency sound waves into areas of the patient’s body. The
equipment collects reflected echoes and forms an image that may be
videotaped, transmitted, or photographed for interpretation and
diagnosis by a physician. Views the screen during the scan, looking
for visual cues that contrast healthy areas with unhealthy ones.
Selects images to show the physician for diagnostic purposes. Takes
measurements, calculates values, and analyzes the results in a
preliminary report for the physicians. Keeps patient records and
adjusts/maintains equipment. Complies with safety, infection
control, and quality improvement policies/procedures. P erforms
other duties as assigned. What We Expect from You Associate’s or
bachelor’s degree in sonography from an accredited s c hool.
Current RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer)
Certificatio n Current CPR certification Minimum of one y ears of
experience working as a certified Ultrasonographer Reasoning
Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety
of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of
instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual
should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

that the hourly range for this position will vary based on
experience level, education and geographical location. $32.53 -
