partnership and close collaboration with the trauma/burn medical
directors and surgical administration oversees the development,
implementation and evaluation of the trauma and burn programs,
injury prevention programs and safety center. Responsibilities
include assuring the organization of services and systems necessary
for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to the injured
patients. Assumes responsibility for the process and performance
improvement activities as they relate to nursing and ancillary
personnel providing care to the injured patients. The primary areas
of responsibility include educational, clinical, research,
administrative and outreach activities of the trauma, burn and
outreach programs. Manages the financial and budgetary operations
for the program. Represents the programs at the local, regional and
state levels. Provides clinical oversite to nursing personnel in
the pediatric surgery service. Develops, monitors and revises
functional processes. Provides input into the development and
revision of organizational structure for function. Approves
personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Ensures
the timely completion of performance appraisals. Develops current
to intermediate goals and measures for areas of responsibility.
Measures and assesses performance. As requested, assists in long
range goal development. Assists in development of and monitors
budget. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws,
government regulations, Joint Commission requirements and DMC
policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit
recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives
for diversity of their suppliers. 1. Assures & oversees the patient
information flow for trauma and/or burn quality assurance
activities, including multidisciplinary staff conferences,
morbidity and mortality reviews, and quality assurance meetings.
Maintains intimate knowledge of trauma and/or burn care systems
from pre-hospital care to inpatient discharge, and identifies
system problems. Develops opportunities for improvement and ensures
implementation of necessary changes. 2. Provides oversite to the
trauma and/or burn staff and the registrar with the design,
development, and maintenance of hospital trauma and/or burn
registries and provides data for regional, state and national
registry. 3. Assures that attending staff/nursing staff manage
system maintenance, including in-service activities with resident
physician/nursing staff. These activities include instruction in
trauma and/or burn and injury severity scoring (as applicable),
proper documentation, and aspects of evaluation and care of trauma
and/or burn patient. 4. Manages and participates in outreach
efforts, including community/public relations and professional
presentations to referring institutions. As applicable, coordinates
the institution's program of community education in injury
prevention. 5. Remains current with local, statewide and national
trends and issues regarding trauma and/or burn care, its
organization and funding. Represents the hospital in various
forums, where appropriate, i.e. Region 2 South, DEMCA, and other
related assemblies. 6. In coordination with administration prepares
budgets for the trauma, injury prevention and burn programs. 7.
Facilitates studies and research concerning trauma, burn and/or

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN). MSN or NP preferred. 2. License
to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. 3.
Three to five years of progressively more responsible leadership
experience. 4. Five years of nursing experience. Emergency, trauma
and/or burn nursing or other relevant clinical background highly
desirable. 5. BLS certified. Facility Description Children’s
