General Summary:
Manages the operational and personnel activities of the assigned software engineering area. Collaborates with internal and external customers, suppliers and affiliates in resolving problems/issues arising from daily operations. Mentors, coaches and leads subordinates by developing performance expectations, assessing individual training needs and planning for goal attainment. Recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, and ensures training of staff and completes performance evaluations. Collaborates with senior management to develop goals, objectives and measures for area. Communicates and implements change management initiatives. Assists in the development and monitoring of budget for area.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Manages the operational and personnel activities of the assigned software engineering area within the department. Oversees and is accountable for managing area, including annual product sales of approximately $??. Analyzes workflow and provides input for process changes.
2. Maintains relationships and directly interacts with internal and external customers, and/or suppliers and affiliates as needed to address and resolve issues arising from daily operations.
3. Mentors, coaches and leads subordinates by developing performance expectations, assessing individual training needs and planning for goal attainment. Reviews work of subordinates for accuracy. Recommends personnel actions such as hiring, firing and disciplines, and completes performance evaluations.
4. Collaborates with senior management to develop goals, objectives and measures for area in light of overall department, division and organization strategy. Communicates and is accountable for goal attainment. Communicates and implements change management initiatives.
5. Assists in the development and monitoring of budget for area of responsibility. Provides input into staffing proposals.
6. Makes routine decisions that may affect the area or department. Seeks advice from and provides input to senior management in addressing higher level and non-routine issues.
7. Maintains current understanding in industry or functional trends and disseminates throughout appropriate segments of business.
8. Participates in independent committee activities to facilitate overall work efficiency improvements.
9. Follows general organization-wide and department-specific QS-9000 policies, procedures and work instructions.
10. Participates in and supports environmental and safety activities by managing area's goals and objectives and ensuring Associates attend required training and comply with established procedures. Monitors environmental and safety progress and corrective actions.

--- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

--- Seven to ten years of progressively more responsible software design experience including C-programming and assembly language, preferably within the automotive industry.
