Business Line Senior Quality Manager - Chassis & Powertech Solutions Tracking Code -846 Job Description Federal-Mogul has recently been acquired by Tenneco. The strategic combination of Tenneco's Ride Performance business with Federal-Mogul's Motorparts business will establish a global aftermarket leader with an impressive portfolio of some of the strongest brands in the aftermarket including Monroe, Walker, Wagner, Champion, Fel-Pro and MOOG. The company's broader aftermarket product coverage, stronger distribution channels, and enhanced channel development will strengthen its position in established and high growth markets (China and India), and drive success through new mobility models and capturing evolving e-commerce opportunities. This position supports the production locations within the Chassis and Powertech Solutions business lines and is responsible for implementing, coordinating, managing and continually improving quality in the business line. In addition, this position drives the continual compliance of quality standards for products and processes to ensure product reliability, quality certifications and customer satisfaction. The person will work closely with internal and external key stakeholders and provide support within operations to address all quality issues including customer complaints, scrap reduction, audit findings, etc. We are ready to act immediately on those candidates who are the best fit for the position. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Work closely with manufacturing plants to drive improvement, share best practices, perform Quality Maturity Assessments and provide training where needed. * Strategic and tactical responsibility for implementing Quality strategy and strategic operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, optimizing production quality levels and supporting operational excellence. * Overall responsibility for global Quality activities across the business line. * Create and implement best practices quality vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance. * Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities to contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process. * Drive quality standards and practices from new product conception through to warranty analysis. * Drive any necessary culture change and improvement in business performance to deliver strategic goals. * Implement new quality processes and systems where appropriate * Assist in continuous improvement activities throughout the business ensuring that problems are prevented and that customer requirements are met with any problems resolved effectively and economically. * Maintain procedures and processes for appropriate certifications (ISO and IATF 16949), ensuring companywide compliance to legal and customer specifications and standards. * Ensure effective internal and external audits happen as well as assessment and audit of subcontractors. * Ensure that corrective actions are delivered and non-compliance issues are resolved on time. * Develop improvement and communication protocol within all systems and processes across the business line. * Report on quality activities on a regular basis to the Senior Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators. * Support BU by preparation and presentation of technical information to maintain and increase sales of product. Training and Developing: * Lead and organize formal/informal problem solving in areas of scrap, process capability warranty, etc. * Provide training in quality systems and related areas such as APQP, Problem Solving, Statistical Process Control, Gage R & R and DOE. System Support: * Conduct system and product audits. * Assist in maintenance of ISO/IATF and ISO9001 certification. * Coordinate/facilitate continuous improvement in system compliance, product quality, customer satisfaction, cost of quality, etc. Required Experience Education: * Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience: * Ten years previous experience in an automotive environment, where primary responsibilities were in a quality / engineering related area. * Working knowledge of quality assurance philosophy and problem-solving techniques. * Ability to initiate, lead and sustain change. * Potential to travel up to 50%. * Excellent communication skills to interact with all level of colleagues and customers. * Competent in working with blueprints, material specs, measurement instruments, etc. * Understanding of SPC, gauge R & R, and calibration techniques. * Certified 6 Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt. * Skilled problem solver, understand and utilize continuous improvement tools such as 8-D/ EPS methodology. * Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimize team performance and development in a matrix management model. * Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate, and manage key stakeholders and suppliers. * Excellent computer literacy. * Embrace the company values: integrity always, one team, make tomorrow better, and have a will to win!
