Job Description:
This position is fully remote; occasional planned travel to an
office location may be required. However, this position is
permitted to work at an office location if requested by the team
member.GENERAL SUMMARY: The Accountant Sr. is responsible for
recording the financial activity of the healthcare system in
compliance with GAAP. It is also their responsibility to provide
accounting and financial support to department management, hospital
and medical administration, and other users of financial data. This
is achieved through monthly journal entries, account analysis and
reconciliation, financial statement preparation, variance analysis
and ad-hoc reports.The Accountant Sr. requires the ability to
communicate accounting or financial issues intelligently, yet
plainly, to various audiences. The individual must possess the
analytical ability to interpret information and make
recommendations. In addition, the individual must be able to
identify and implement process improvements to procedures due to
situational or technical changes.The primary differences between
the Accountant roles are the complexity of accounts and the
expected level of supervision and oversight required.ESSENTIAL
DUTIES:Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations to
ensure accuracy of assigned accounts and fair presentation of the
financial statements on a monthly and annual basis.Analyze and
reconcile complex General Ledger accounts. Identify variances and
resolve issues relating to accounts. Ensure all accounts are
reported in accordance with GAAP.Prepare various monthly management
reports and ad-hoc analysis as assigned. Provide operational
department managers support relating to their department.Maintain a
strong working knowledge of relevant accounting software and
databases to improve timeliness and effectiveness of assigned
projects.Assist in mentoring Accountant II, Accountant and
Accounting Analyst level co-workers.Work with internal and external
auditors to ensure accurate, timely financial statements in
accordance to GAAP.Peer-review account reconciliations and journal
entries in accordance with audit guidelines.Demonstrate initiative
and follow-through of responsibilities.Promote positive working
relations as part of a department team and helps facilitate the
team's ability to meet its goals and objectivesSTANDARD
QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's in accounting or business-related field of
study.MBA Preferred.Three+ years in an accounting/finance or
auditor role required.A master's degree plus one year of practical
accounting or auditing experience will be considered in lieu of the
3 years of experience.CPA or CMA preferred, not required.Other
Qualifications:Keep abreast of accounting guidance and regulation
changes by attending accounting meetings and research of
periodicals.Ability to analyze accounts through critical thinking
processes under the guidance of accounting standards.Required
proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and business
writing.Preferred proficiency in PeopleSoft, Microsoft Access and
Blackline Account Reconciliations.An Accountant Sr. must be able to
achieve a high degree of accuracy and proficiency under tight
